A talented singer named Song Dan Ping arrived on an island with his small theatre company. During his stay, he fell in love with Tong Ruo Fan, whose family sponsored the building of his new theatre. Their love grew stronger as the construction moved forward. However, her family was opposed to their courtship and betrothed her to Chen Tian Yi, a gentry from the island. Ruo Fan’s jealous fiancé secretly set fire to Dan Ping’s theatre after opening night. Ruo Fan was later declared dead. The heartbroken Ruo Fan married Tian Yi unknowing that her husband was the culprit.
